ROCHESTER, NY (September 16, 2016) — With a second round 4-under 66 John Hunter and Kyle Nathan have moved to 9-under and the top of the John R. Williams Four-Ball Invitational leaderboard.
On Friday play moved to the famed East Course at Oak Hill Country Club and it was Hunter (Houston, TX) and Nathan (Glenview, IL) improving on a tie for third at the start of the day.
A pair of teams will begin the final round one-stroke back and in second place at 7-under. Billy Hanes (Elma, NY) and Billy Gaffney (Williamsville, NY) shot a 5-under 65 while Eric Rustand (Tucson, AZ) and Clark Rustand (Tucson, AZ) put together a 4-under 66 to move into the second place position.
First round leaders Michael C. Carrig and Brian Kumiega, both from Buffalo, NY, struggled a bit on day two with 1-over 71 but they are still just two-strokes back and in fourth place.
Wade Sarkis (Canandaigua, NY) and James Scorse (Churchville, NY) are in fifth at 5-under following tallies of 67-69.
Heading into the final day nine teams are in red figures with six within five-strokes of the lead.
SENIOR DIVISION
The Senior Division is being led by George Kavanagh (Rochester, NY) and Matt Clarke (Loudonville, NY) at 5-under. Following rounds of 68-69 the duo are ahead by one-stroke.
In second place are James McCord and John McCord of Tullahoma, TN at 4-under. Two other teams are within three shots of the lead –John Kircher (Pittsford, NY) and John Salamone (Sherborn, MA); Mark Chylinski (Pittsfield, MA) and Jim Mueller (Altamont, NY)– who are both 1-under and tied for third.
Six teams will begin the final day within five shots of the lead.
